Forthnet Group consists, among other companies, of Forthnet, the major private broadband company in Greece and of Netmed Hellas and Multichoice Hellas (Nova), which constitute the major private entity of radio and television services provision in the country. It provides data, internet and fixed telephony services to five hundred thousand (500,000) private individuals and enterprises, as well as pay TV services to three hundred fifty thousand (350.000) subscribers in Greece and Cyprus.
Regarding Forthnet
Forthnet is the major private company of broadband services provision in Greece. It was established in October of 1995 and since 2000, is listed in the main market of Athens Stock Exchange.
With the use of state-of-the-art technology and fully exploiting its know-how, Forthnet offers a broad range of broadband services, putting emphasis on the fields of Internet and fixed telephony, to private individuals, enterprises, and Public Sector entities throughout Greece. In August of 2008, it took over Netmed N.V. and Intervision (Services) B.V., consolidating its dominance in the field of the combined services of fixed telephony, broadband services and TV-content.
Today, the company that brought Internet in Greece, owns a chain of more than 100 shops that bear its name and covers more that 50 cities of the country with its telecommunication network.
Regarding Nova
Since December of 1999, Multichoice Hellas, holder of a license for the provision of pay TV and radio programs via satellite, offers to more than 350,000 subscribers the most popular pay TV channels worldwide, with a satellite sound and image quality, via Nova, the first digital satellite TV platform in Greece. The wide variety of channels and services included in Nova bouquet, offer to the viewes a broad selection ability, 24 hours per day, according to his mood and preferences. 5 cinema channels with the most recent movies and series from all Hollywood studios , 10 sports channels with the major sports events such as Superleague, Champions League, UEFA Europa League, European Cups, Euroleague etc., 4 kids’ channels, 6 documentary channels, 10 music channels, 4 fashion and entertainment channels, 10 international news channels, 3 adult channels, 11 major Greek free-to-air channels and more than 150 free channels and 50 free radio programs.
“Forthnet Media Holdings” is the universal successor of the companies NetMed Hellas and Syned S.A., following their absorption in August and September 2010, respectively.
Forthnet Media Holdings broadcasts Novacinema1 and Novasports1 / Disney XD pay TV channels in the Greek territory, using a terrestrial analogue method, while also supplies, as a television programmes manager, Multichoice Hellas with the pay TV channels Novacinema1, Novacinema2, Novacinema3, Novasports1, Novαsports2, Novasports3, Novasports4, Novasports Highlights, Novasports6 and Novasports7, which are broadcast via the Nova digital platform. At the same time, Forthnet Media Holdings has implemented and provides technical installations – under uninterruptible power supply – for digital satellite broadcasting of radio and television programmes, while in September 2010 it started producing and transmitting high definition programmes directly for the public. The company uses spatial capacities at Eutelsat HotBird leased satellites.
Forthnet Media Holdings was the first subscriber television company to operate in Greece (as NetMed Hellas) in 1994, while it became involved with technical infrastructure for digital satellite broadcasting (as Syned) in April 1996.
